About Us

The Journey to Becoming Jason Brown Plumbing and Gas Fitting.

I’m Jason Brown from Jason Brown Plumbing & Gas in Wellington, born in Dunedin and the youngest of two children to Ross and Carol Brown. I’ve always loved sport and after school dedicated myself to training in Taekwondo, eventually earning a black belt.

In 1992 I met Kirstie who was to become my other half in life and in business. We had met in Nelson but soon moved to Queenstown in 1994 where we both worked on Ski fields and enjoyed the party life! I then worked for a security company, collecting money from banks around central Otago. Meanwhile, Kirstie worked in marketing for Millbrook Resort and was there for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting of 1995.

Plumbing Skills Across the Globe: Discovering New Techniques Through Travel

We then moved to Wellington which would be our home for years to come. We bought our first home in 1996 in Petone. We weren’t ready to settle down just yet though and went on a big adventure, travelling through the middle east (Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordon, Israel and Egypt) and then Europe (France, England, Scotland). We decided to make our way home which ended up taking five months as we travelled through Kenya, Uganda, Rawanda, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa and more

Starting Jason Brown Plumbing & Gas in Wellington

We finally returned home in 2002. We bought a new house in Lower Hutt, started sowing the seeds for Jason Brown Plumbing & Gas in Wellington and got married in the summer of 2004. By this time Kirstie and I were a tight team and I was quite well trained in plumbing work, working under my brother in law who ran Kitchingham Plumbing in Wellington. This wasn’t the only training I underwent, I also decided to do the Ironman Challenge which I completed the following year in 2005.

19 years later we have raised three children we’re so proud of; Lexie, Sophie and William and our business could be our fourth child which will turn 19 this year. We now have a team of 12 and we are still growing.
